Presentaciķn

The chance to practice it all year round has helped the sport of golf to develop rapidly in Huelva.

Next to the sea and amidst the natural spaces that mark our coasts, are the excellent golf courses of Isla Canela, Islantilla, Nuevo Portil, Dunas de Doñana and Bellavista.

In Minas de Riotinto, a rustic course, Corta Atalaya, which was Spain's first golf course, was built by the British community of Minas de Riotinto. Riotinto Company Limited, which ran the mine since 1873, created the “North Lode Golf Club” for its British - specifically Scottish - staff in 1890. The layout was redesigned in 1976, but it preserves the deep tradition of its founders.

At Matalascaņas Beach, Huelva has its first ecological golf course in the Club Dunas de Doņana. Adjacent to Doņana National Park, the Club hosted the Spanish Professional Championship in 2005. Extremely attentive to environmental values, the course has four lakes that are breeding grounds for water fowl; one of them has a surface area of over 15,000 square metres, thus achieving a smooth integration between human uses and the natural marvels of Doņana.
