1. Fire is a constant danger in these mountains. Those from only a few years ago reached the magnitude of an ecological disaster and even cost human lifes. Making fire in periods when it is not allowed, throw away cigarette butts or leave glass could result in the start of a catastrophe..
2. The nature that we are going to transit has maintained a stable but fragile equilibrium during ages. Any rests or junk we leave will irreversibly deteriorate the environment.
3. The pastures, chestnut groves, and in general the land that you see next to the trail are, usually, private property. Access therefore is not free and the fruits they produce are the income of the people of the area. Do not leave the signalled trail and in no case collect chestnuts nor fruits during the way.
4. Any animal or plant that we encounter during our trip has a specific function in the ecosystem, and is unique and irreplaceble.
Do not pick flowers, or disturb animals that youare lucky to see during the journey.
5. Trekking offers, amongst others, the possibility to enjoy nature fully and harmonically, especially in a place like in the Sierra de Aracena
y Picos de Aroche. The noise that accompanies human activity changes this harmony and molests animals that live in this habitat, as well as other trekkers. Make your passing by to cause as little noise as possible, avoiding shouting or loud music.
6. To be able to enjoy fully of the chosen route, it is necessary to wear good shoes, suitable for the terrain. Cloths should be selected based on the weather previsions (it is essential to wear a raincoat in autumn and winter, and a hat to protect yourself from the sun in summer and spring).
Further, on sunny days it is necessary to apply sun blocks abundantly.
7. Information boards, signal posts and the milestones of every trail are of vital importance to garantuee the visitor that he is on the right track and to avoid he will be lost. Please contribute to maintain the signals and in case finding a broken signal, please warn the Visitor's Centre or the Town Council.
8. Along most trails we find some form of water, rivers, streams or lakes, that although they might seem in good state, do not garantuee it is potable water. Before we leave we need to assure that we carry sufficient drinkwater to hidrate ourselves during the complete journey, especially in periods of high temperatures.
9. To end a trail in good order, it is necessary to make a minimal planning, studying previously information about the track, the difficulty, as well as planned start and arrival. It is practical to bring with you a guide or map of the trail, available at Tourist Offices or Visitor's Centres.
10. In case of difficulties or problems during the trip turn to Environmental Agents or patrols of the Guardia Civil in the area. It is convenient to carry a telephone to be able to contact them. |
